After the 1999’s Cricket World Cup, Australia has changed the way of playing cricket with their ruthless aggression. Their passion to rule the cricket world in both forms of game motivated them to outplay every team. They ignited the lost firepower of longer version of the game with their pace and attacking approach. They always have been ultimate entertainment for the viewers.
Undoubtedly till last week, they were favorites for upcoming Cricket World Cup 2007. But things got changed for them when England ruled out them in consecutive matches of the Common Wealth Bank series to clinch the trophy. Though, everyone thought that it was a coincidence but after being beaten by New Zealand in the Chapel – Hedley trophy with 3-0, peoples’ point of view has definitely changed. Australia suddenly slipped from the No.1 position.
After scoring over 300 runs in two consecutive matches and loosing both of them, it makes me feel that they are lacking the good luck this time. One may consider that five main players: Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds, Michael Clarke, Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist are out of the squad due to injuries, but still with the kind of bench strength they have, this can not be the excuse.
Although, it looks like that Ponting is Australia and without him they feel like nothing. It showed in Chapel – Hedley trophy matches with New Zealand. Mike Hussey, the acting captain, wasn’t able to mount pressure on the opposition even after getting momentum for it at crucial times. He must be very disappointed with this defeat, as nobody had expected this kind of result for the series.
This is an opportunity for the rest of teams to grab the World Cup 2007 by defeating the defending champion. But for the ones, who consider Australia as a loser, should keep in mind that Australia always has bounced back with a bang. You can’t under estimate them as they are a wounded tiger now. I am sure the Australian camp will definitely take some serious steps to compensate this big loss. In the cricket world, everybody has started saying that Aussies have started going downwards.
Wins and losses are the two aspects of a coin. Though Aussies haven’t seen the other side for a long time. It’s a wake up call for them. I am with the Aussies as they are like wounded tiger now and when the battle for the cricket world cup starts, they will strike back with full strength in the leadership of a great batsman and captain “Ricky Ponting”. Beware the entire cricket world, as Aussies will still be a great challenge for all the teams. May be not for Indian Cricket Team.

Its time to have a change, Nike the official sponsor for apparel of Indian cricket team, has launched a new range for world cup gear for the Indian cricket team.
They have been working very hard on this for last one year and finally they have come up with some great work. Before the final launch they have offered the player to have a try on new dress. And all players liked it. The new lining is a cool combination of dark shade of blue and a tinge of grey and orange flavour.
But the training gear is so much different from the dress. It will
have dark blue base, unlike the present shining light blue with white base, and will have a grey shade at the back with the principal sponsor name written in orange at the front.
The shorts and track pants will also have new look with dark blue color with orange piping at the sides. And also the cap will also get a tri-colour strip towards the side.
These outfits are designed to give a full comfort to the players in the field. These outfits are climate independent which makes it useful for both the weathers of the year. Indian team will use this new looks for the upcoming tournaments.
Although every event associated with BCCI has to be completed on a funny node. This time it’s the new outfit. In this new outfit the sponsor’s logo is on the front side of shirt but according to ICC rules, in any tournament organized by ICC, participating teams can only have ICC logo on the front side of shirt. BCCI as always didn’t give importance to it and again receives a warning regarding this mishap. What else? Modifications have to be done in this new outfit.
I hope this new world cup outfit will bring new energy to our team and once again Cricket world cup will be ours. Let us keep fingers crossed!
