Abrupt Chemistry Between Samajwadi Party And UPA

Posted by Kokolicious on July 18th, 2008

Since the time, Indian verdict has been diversified into multiple parties rather than a single party majority; the support game has become more interesting and unpredictable. In the present context, no one can anticipate which political party is going to support whom and at what cost. msy.jpg

In a recent development, the Left Front announced the withdrawal of their legislative support to the Congress-lead UPA government. At this gesture, the SamajwadiParty stepped up like generous Robin Hood to save the Government at the center. But the question arises, why has SP come forward to support UPA? The situation becomes more complex when we recall that it is the same party that withdrew support to the Congress-lead UPA government in the month of February, last year. That time Mulayam Singh Yadav, erstwhile Chief Minister of UP passed the decision in the wake of Congress’ efforts to impose President’s rule in the state.

When Kumari Mayawati led Bahujan Samaj Party regained the power in UP recently, it rolled ismayawati.jpegback many decisions taken by the former Samajwadi Party. Moreover, SP leaders had to run here and there to hide from the fury of Mayawati with Maya hitting every opposition leader with her hunter. At that time, Yadav and Amar Singh had also alleged that she was playing a politics of revenge.

And now, when the UPA government is going to face a trial for confidence motion at the parliament, the SP has come forward to save the government. The party stated that it discussed the importance of atomic deal with former president and scientist Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and came to conclusion that the deal should be concluded as it is in favor of the nation.manmoha.jpg

Supporting the government at the center will certainly help Mulayam Singh and party to protect them from the ruthless hunter of Madam Maya, at least until the next Loksabha elections. Moreover, it is only the congress leadership that can shield the leaders of Samajwadi Party from the politics of revenge by arch-rival Bahujan Samajwadi party. Meanwhile, there are some other political repercussions of this alliance, which may prove to be vital for both Congress as well as SP later.
