Rain jamming The City, Or Someone Else?
What’s the worry if you fail to reach your destination on time? Why to panic, if a common man dies on the way to the hospital for the delay caused due to crawling traffic? The authorities find it very difficult to explain the queries, people have regarding annoying traffic jams on Delhi roads, especially during the rainy seasons. Moreover, Delhiites now have given in to ask for the explanation or raise a voice against the mismanagement of the Delhi roads. Though, the traffic jams have become a common routine on Delhi’s roads and now the commuters of Delhi have also become habitual of spending hours of their productive time on these stupidly pack
It’s not such that the government doesn’t have the money to remedy these troubles. But, what the authorities do not have, is the pure intention to improve. They might have their own reasons away from the general understanding of the public. Rather, the oppressed public of the capital of India doesn’t have the guts to raise a voice. And hence, it is only the public, who has to suffer even if it pays all taxes to the authorities for better infrastructure and facilities. Though, MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) has raised the budget from Rs 25 crores to Rs 37.5 crores for cleaning the drains this year, but where the money has been utilized is beyond a common man’s imagination. The worst conditions of Delhi roads during the rains do not show the results of such a huge amount spent for cleaning up the drains.
So, who is responsible for this kind of chaos on Delhi roads? People have the right to know that why the job has not been done so far, before it started rains. Or, the civic authorities feel that Delhi has been getting very mild rain showers during the monsoon season for so many years, and hence there is no urgency to manage the roads. The last date of cleaning the drains was 30th June, but the system doesn’t seem to be working in the most parts of the Delhi.
The Government boasts of converting Delhi into Paris, but the reality reveals that it has not even remained the original Delhi, which used to be neat and clean couple of decades back. Where will these growing traffic jams, mismanaged roads and short sighted development take Delhi to?
The answer still is unknown to a common person like me. Is there some one, who can solve this eternal puzzle?
