The Beijing Olympic Games 2008, also known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, are the biggest sporting event in the world. And, hence the China has poured in all its efforts to make it a grand success. It’s not only the Government of China who has enthusiastically prepared for the mega event, but the people of China have also contributed significantly to welcome the people and sportsmen from all around the world.
The President of China Hu Jintao has described the Beijing Olympics as an opportunity for both China and the World. "We should carry forward the Olympic spirit of solidarity, friendship and peace, facilitate sincere exchanges among people from all countries, deepen mutual understanding, enhance friendship and rise above differences, and promote the building of a harmonious world featuring lasting peace and common prosperity," the President said.
The mega event is being held from August 8 to August 24, 2008 followed by the 2008 Summer Paralympics from September 6 to September 17, 2008. And, more than ten thousand five hundred athletes are expected to compete in 302 events in 28 sports.
The Official logo of the event is titled, "Dancing Beijing" featuring a stylized calligraphic character jing referring the host city. The mascots of Beijing 2008, are the five Fuwa, each of them representing both the colour of Olympic rings and a symbol of Chinese culture. The slog

China has invested heavily to create the infrastructure for the games. Various modern facilities and transportation systems have been introduced in China. There are 37 venues to host the events, out of which 12 are newly constructed. Out of these awesome Buildings, two stadiums have been constructed uniquely different using the state of art technology. The Bird Nest Stadium and the Water Cube stadium are the symbols of magical architecture, and hence are worth making a visit to witness the charm. The games are considered to be highlighting China’s emergence as one of the fastest developing nation in the world.
So, let’s hope that this Olympics bring the peace, prosperity and cooperation to the whole world.
